Birds & Words

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul.
And sings the tune
Without the words,
and never stops at all.

Surprise!

Once again the awesome and inspiring Ann has surprised me with wonderful gifts from her travels and adventures.

Who are these bathing beauties? Are they friends who meet once a year for a retreat by the sea? Are they sisters and cousins at a family reunion? Whoever they were, I believe they must have been happy as they posed near the water's edge!

And can you believe that prescriptions from 1930 were not destroyed somewhere along the way, but hidden away for artists to discover 76 years later! Amazing..............

Thank you, Ann, for thinking of me with this lovely gift!

O, the Moon!

a rare thing, for me, to see the very same moon rise and set.............

a decision to take a different way home,
gasping as I crested a hill and saw Grandmother Moon
hanging over the corn fields,
on the road again 12 hours later
and there she was again
while I urgently sought out a place to stop
and capture her image.

Make some space

Before I can get creative again, I've gotta make some room to work!

I worked on some ATCs last week, moving the necessary supplies and materials to the kitchen table. It worked, but not something I want to do all the time!

Making a mess comes with creating. I don't mind that kind of mess. But I can't even come close to my work surface here!

My daughter came for a visit, the first time since I installed these wonderful storage units and 7-ft. countertop. My studio made a huge impact on her.........all the stuff got in the way of being able to see the beauty of my organizing system. The space on which to lay out supplies and materials..........couldn't see that, either!

Some fragments of conversation from her time in my studio:

"Oh, mom, this is a sickness."
"I know, isn't it great!?"
"Mom, you have a sickness!"
"Yeah, maybe."
"Mom, how can you have so much stuff?"
"How can I not?"
"Oh, mom, this is a sickness......wow, this is cool, where did you get it?"
"Would you like a piece of it?"
"Mom, you've got so much stuff. How do you even know what you have?"
"Ah, that's the beauty of it.......I sift through things, find something I'd forgotten, and feel like I've just brought home a new treasure!"
"Oh, mom, you have a sickness........"

A sweet gift.....

...........from the fabulous and incomparable Jane, Grace and Ann.

Such a sweet and precious acorn.

More sweet and precious is being one to receive this symbol of care and infinite possibilities.

What a blessing!
