Campground Art

I played with rocks and sticks as a child........I still play with rocks and sticks. What do you do when you're playing in the campground?

PS: Happy Birthday, Mom!

..........one more candle and a trip around the sun......... (Jimmy Buffett paraphrased!)...........

Three Woodswomen..........

..........in Glacier National Park. Is it truly possible that this was less than two weeks ago? It seems a world away now that I've returned to work and familiar routines.

My mom, sister and I spent four nights camping in the woods.......yes, even mom slept on the ground in a tent! The best part of the vacation, for all of us, was being able to spend time together. The next best part, especially for me, was spending much of that time in a place I believe is Heaven.

Thanks to the kind man who sweetly offered to snap this rare photo of the three of us together on the Trail of the Cedars.

To the wild country......

Today I head for the mountains.

There I will find peace.

My soul can rest there, my body and mind will be restored.

Studio Friday: Creativity Roots

This week's topic for Friday August 4th suggested by Anke: YOUR CREATIVITY ROOTS!

"I just thought about that the other day, that I have my creativity from both sides of my parents. Both my grandma's are/were inspired and creative. Does it run in your family too? And from who did you have it or better who else in your family was/is creative. Mom/dad/Grandma/grandpa/uncle/aunt/......-"

This Log Cabin quilt was made by my mother, Arlene, several years ago, and hangs in my hallway. My home and life are filled with my parents' creations.....quilts to look at and wrap up in, beautiful gifts from my mother's hands. And pieces of furniture made by my dad......a sewing table, bookcases, a doll's wardrobe and little girl's dish cabinet.

I am grateful that I inherited the desire and ability to create, and for seeing it in my daughters' lives as well. {SF}

Lazy Summer Days

Summer lethargy has over-taken me.

This is my season to hibernate. Summer is the time of year that sends me into hiding.

Days of heat and humidity steal my energy.

The more I try to resist by pushing myself.....to do.....to go.....to produce.......the less able I become to function "normally." So I rest. Have been resting. Looking forward to another time, another season.
